Under the Sea Garrick Rawlings ©2006 Oh, Mr. D What’s it like down there On a sunny day When you come up for air What do you do When a storm rolls through In a hurricane I worry ‘bout you Faster, faster than lightning World of wonder, under the sea Oh, how’s your bro In the aquarium Does he ever write How he feels so dumb He’s doin tricks On a human stage Does he feel free Or like a rat in a cage Faster, faster than lightning World of wonder, under the sea Where do you go When you’re not around I miss you so Here on solid ground Oh, did you swim With the Yankee Clipper What do you think Of good ‘ol Flipper Faster, faster than lightning World of wonder, under the sea

Love’s Been Sold By Garrick Rawlings ©2007 The tattoo on her back, rides squarely upon her crack And the rings that she chose, to poke through her nose Tell a story with her pose, in very hip clothes Her daddy never made it, she learned young to fake it The quest in her eyes, tell urgent little lies And the apple of them eyes, is a rather “interesting” guy Ain’t no reason, ain’t no rhyme She don’t matter, she don’t try Long ago truth be told, love’s been bought, love’s been sold Long ago truth be told, love’s been bought, love’s been sold The cell phone in her ear, makes conversation queer The collagen in her lips, provide much bigger tips Which she plans to invest, in silicone for her breasts Ain’t no reason, ain’t no rhyme She don’t matter, she don’t try Long ago truth be told, love’s been bought, love’s been sold Long ago truth be told, love’s been bought, love’s been sold The orbit of her ass, give Levi’s a little class And her silver studded belt, hide feelings she once felt And the tattoo on her back, rides squarely upon her crack

Don’t Go Lookin’ Garrick Rawlings ©2022 Don’t go lookin’ I don’t want to be found out, I said Don’t go lookin’ I don’t want to be found out I’ve been getting’ away with it for so long Don’t want the walls to come tumblin’ down Well I tried to do it your way, but it didn’t work out at all I tried to do it your way, but it didn’t work out at all When I finally broke those chains lord, everything started workin’ out This ain’t nothin’ special, it ain’t real nor profound I tried to tell you baby, what goes up must come down Don’t go lookin’ I don’t want to be found out, I said Don’t go lookin’ I don’t want to be found out I’ve been getting’ away with it for so long Don’t want the walls to come tumblin’ down It was easy the first time, the 2nd and 3rd time too It was easy the first time and all those other times too I’ve been foolin’ you for so long How’s it feel to play the fool? This ain’t nothin’ special, it ain’t real nor profound I tried to tell you baby, what goes up must come down Well I’ve got to have my freedom, won’t you please just let me be You know I’ve got to ramble, won’t you please just let me be If you fence me in now baby, I’ll crumble and then I’ll fade away

about

Here’s a raw, eclectic, irreverent, whimsical, garage rocking EP of pure fun!

I put this together over the covid, I took a few multi-guitar and bass
song demos I’d laid down over to Shawn Nourse’s LA studio (Nourse by Northwest); he composed drum tracks and we further improved upon what I had done alone. Elsewhere I recorded a couple of solo acoustic numbers to round out this five-song collection. One day I joined these unrelated, orphaned songs together and they somehow hold together quite nicely in their collective irreverence and sometimes profane spirit!

The EP is short but the distances were long! Parts of this thing were recorded in Highland Park (LA), Long Beach, Blocksburg and Hermosa Beach, California; Prescott, Arizona; the last track was recorded just a few months ago in the basement of my dad’s home in Howe, Indiana.

Hopefully there’s a little bit here for everyone in this guitar-driven affair; a rocking electric blues, a rocking acoustic blues, a new old-school folk protest song, a surf-punk song, and even a love song!
